Food 4 Kids
Help feed a child today
What is Food 4 Kids?
We take pride in caring for and nurturing our children. Providing them with nutritious meals to sustain them throughout the day is a central part of this and for many of us meal times are something to look forward to for the whole family.
But for tens of millions of children around the world, life is not so simple. Without access to nutritional food, a child dies every ten seconds from hunger-related diseases.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. With simple interventions, such as providing healthy meals, nutritional supplements and treatment for infections, so many lives can be saved.
Through our Food 4 Kids programme, we provide children all over the world with balanced meals, essential vitamin supplements and medical check-ups and treatment.
Raising awareness is also a big part of the programme. To this end, we train teachers and healthcare workers on recognising and treating malnutrition.
We are currently providing over 1,800 meals a day, but there is much more to be done. With your generous support, we can reach even more children with the support they need to keep them healthy and alive.
Key Facts
How hunger affects children
The Dangers of Malnutrition
At ½ñÈÕ´ó¹Ï we know that the long-term effects of hunger run deep and can cripple whole communities. Endemic malnutrition leads to poor health and increased school drop-out rates. This in turn leads to continued poverty and the vicious cycle continues from one generation to the next.
½ñÈÕ´ó¹Ï Paediatric Consultant Dr D Emmanuel, writes in a recent article:
'If you improve nutrition, you improve a child's ability to focus and achieve well in class and improve the future prospects of an entire family.Â
If a family has strong, healthy working individuals, you have rehabilitated an entire community. In this way, the chain of poverty and ill-health is broken'.
With at least 20 million children around the world suffering from acute malnutrition, the importance of providing young people with access to nutritious food and basic healthcare is unquestionable.
Every child has the right to go to school, spend time with their family and play with their friends, without the ever-present shadow of hunger looming over them. Â
Established in 1993, ½ñÈÕ´ó¹Ï is an aid agency and NGO helping those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disaster in over 20 countries worldwide.
